Interview

The interview process is quite elaborate. Typically a 10-15 minute online Zoom-call interview will be conducted by 2-3 FLAME representatives and/or Professors. It can include any or all of these topics:

Current Affairs

Certain topics will be asked in the FEAT exam, and the 200-250 word essay will also be on current affairs. There will also be a couple of questions in the interview. However, the difference between the two is the type of answers expected. In the interview, you should be giving answers with personal reflections. For example, one of the previous interview questions included “What is happening in Ukraine and how do you feel about it?”. This question, if asked in the FEAT exam, would only have been “What is happening in Ukraine?”, but the interview’s aim is to not only find out how much you know about the current world, but also to find out more about your character, personality and thought process.

Personal Ambitions

This is quite straightforward. Explain your short-term and long-term goals, and what they mean to you. Make the response personal and express your goals in detail. Answer not only what, but why and how you want to achieve what you want to achieve. Be assertive, not arrogant, and be confident.

Interest

The questions revolving around interests will be quite minimal, and you should answer it briefly. Honestly speak about what hobbies, activities, books, and concepts interest you. The interviewer is trying to understand your personality beyond academics.

Why FLAME University ?

This is a question that can be asked in multiple ways: variations of “Why FLAME University for you?” or “Why should we(FLAME University) have you as a student?” Answer either of these questions with a holistic approach. First describe the things that captivated you about the university. Why are you interested? It can range from courses offered, academic structure, campus facilities, etc. Then describe your best qualities, and why you think you would be an excellent student for them.

Important Tips

Reflect on all these topics at least a day prior to be as confident and prepared as possible.

10-15 minutes before the interview, stay in a calm and comfortable environment.

Try to do a mock interview with a family member or friend.

BE HONEST. If you do not know the answer to a question, it is best to be honest rather than getting caught lying or making things up. Clearly say anything along the lines of- I am currently not aware of this. Anything other than the truth could put you in a tricky situation, and one that is irreversible.
